Join the Smart Citizens’ team to discover the possibilities of 2D digital design. In this short workshop we will introduce how to create simple 2D designs using the free software, Inkscape. We will also explore how to prepare your designs for use on 2D fabrication machines, such as laser cutters and vinyl cutters, through the use of free software, RD works.

Through this workshop we will show you how to:

  • Design simple forms and objects in 2D
  • Turn images, photos and text into 2D design
  • Save your design in the correct format to be uploaded onto 2D digital fabrication machines and understand the many possibilities of 2D digital fabrication.
  • Find open source (accessible to everyone) designs online

By taking part in this workshop, you will gain a Smart Citizens Digital Badge that can be added to your CV, email signature or LinkedIn profile to highlight your new skills in digital design and fabrication.

Why not also book onto our 'Introduction to 2D Digital Design: Part 2'? In this interactive follow-on workshop we will help you put your new skills into practice and create your own designs on Inkscape. Learn more.
